About Regina (Dee) Lassen
Dee is our firm's Legal Secretary and Receptionist. Her main responsibility consist of greeting our clients in person and on the telephone. She is able to make our clients comfortable with their contact with our firm and puts them at ease with their experience with our Law Office. Dee has excellent and friendly communication skills and enjoys her job and communicating with the clients.
Dee also handles the preparation of our clients' documents using our carefully developed Word Processing System, inputs our time and billing records, and assists our clients in regard to the signing of their documents.
Education and Experience
Dee graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn. She worked at Ford Motor Company in the Office of the General Counsel for six years before coming to Smith & Mabley. Dee has been a trusted and valuable member of our staff for 15 years.
Personal
Dee was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. She moved to Dearborn Heights where she raised her family and resided for 25 years. In 1996 she moved downriver to Southgate and then to Brownstown, where she now lives. She enjoys church, church choir, her family, and sports (all the Detroit Teams)!
About Barbara Dircks
Barbara is our firm's Paralegal/Legal Assistant whose responsibilities include: preparing Asset Protection and Estate Plan documents for our clients; assisting our clients in coordinating their assets with their Plan; and handling many aspects of Probate proceedings, Probate Litigation, Guardian and Conservatorship Matters.
She enjoys working with our clients and takes a personal interest in each of our clients and their family.
Experience
Barbara has been employed by law firms for over 40 years and has enjoyed working in various areas of law including Estate Planning, Estate Administration (including preparation of Estate Tax Returns (form 706), Trust Administration, Probate, Probate Litigation, Labor Law, Sale of Businesses, Real Estate documentation and Closings, and Litigation. She is very proud of the fact that our clients constantly commend her on being the person to contact if they need to get something done.
Education
After completing her elementary and high school education, she attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey and obtained her Paralegal Certification while achieving an Honors award for a 97 grade level. She still attends seminars to keep up-to-date on the latest changes necessary to her profession.
Personal
Barbara grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Her daughter attended GMI (now Kettering) and loved Michigan enough to move here on a permanent basis. She decided to move out here to follow her profession and be near her grandchildren.
Some of her favorite things are making clothes for her granddaughters, machine embroidery, reading and traveling throughout the United States.
